Welcome back! What a start to the new term! Your pictures have been fantastic this week. You’ve been sending me all your colourful oil pastel pictures based on Paul Cezanne’s still life paintings for the “Inspired 2” course and the “Pencil and Paper 1” course have been working on composition, proportion and shading. A very impressive start to the courses, hope you enjoyed it.

Word of the week

Hi everyone

Here are some of this week’s pictures and you can see more on our Instagram page at: @leedsartgroup.

Word of the week

Hi folks

Last week’s word was “2021” and we were looking towards what this next year might bring. Just as I suspected, you are a very positive lot and your pictures this week have been so full of hope and optimism. It just goes to show how resilient the human spirit is. Thank you for sending me all your inspiring pictures this week. Here are just a few of them and you can see more on our Instagram page at: @leedsartgroup.

Remember you can join in with “Word of the week” at anytime and it’s free for everyone.

This week’s word is…..

Nature

This is something that is very close to my heart and definitely helped me get through this past year. I think a lot of us became more aware of the natural world around us in 2020 and maybe took a bit more time to appreciate it and the benefits we gain from it. You could focus on plants, animals, shells, landscapes, rivers, the sea, the weather, walking the dog in the woods or scenes of the snowy winter wonderland that we had in Leeds recently that was gone in the blink of an eye.

Can’t wait to see your pictures. This is sadly the last “Word of the week” for a while as online classes will be resuming on Monday 18th January 2021. It’s not too late to book a place if you haven’t already. The closing date for payments is 14th January 2021. So get in touch if you would like to book a place on a course, by phone tel: 07788 871286 or email: leedsartgroup@yahoo.co.uk.

See you all soon!

Word of the week

Happy New Year everyone!

Well done to all of you for making it through 2020 and producing lots of fantastic pictures along the way. Last week’s word was “Favourite”. So you had so many different directions you could have gone in with this. It’s been great to see some of the things you love. Here are just a few of them and you can see more on our Instagram page at: @leedsartgroup.

Remember you can join in with “Word of the week” at anytime and it’s free for everyone.

This week’s word is…..

2021

Ok, so this one isn’t even a word but I’m bending the rules for it. I’ve chosen this because even though we’ve just come through a really tough year, it seems like there’s still a real sense of optimism in the air about what 2021 might bring. Maybe you’re looking forward to seeing friends and family, sitting in a cafe, shopping without wearing a mask, socialising, travelling or even just going to a real live art class! I thought this might be a good time to think about something positive that we might get to see or do in 2021. It might just be a single object that you focus on that somehow represents something bigger (even if it only means something to you). As always, there are no wrong answers!

Looking forward to seeing your pictures and best wishes for 2021!

Hi folks

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas. Well done to everyone who found time between sprouts to get arty and thanks for sending me your “Holidays” pictures. As always, a lot of different interpretations on the same theme. Here are just a few of them and you can see more on our Instagram page at: @leedsartgroup.

Remember you can join in with “Word of the week” at anytime and it’s free for everyone.

This week’s word is…..

Favourite

This could refer to such a wide range of things. For example, your favourite…food, place, flower, colour, person, outfit, book, perfume, song, etc. The possibilities really are endless with this one! I can’t wait to see what you come up with.

Take care.

Something we are probably all in need of right now and might not get for a while but at least we can still draw them! Remember there are no wrong answers. Here are a few suggestions to help spark your imagination: festive holidays, summer holidays, sun, sand, cocktails, snow, mountains, cruises, caravans, brochures, etc.

Word of the week

Hi folks

What a great start to “Word of the week”.  It was so nice to see so many different responses to a single theme.  You’ve been sending me some beautiful pictures this week, so keep ’em coming!  Here are just a few of them and you can see more on our Instagram page at: @leedsartgroup.

Remember you can join in with “Word of the week” at anytime and it’s free for everyone.

This week’s word is…..

Food & Drink

Ok, technically not one word at all but you can’t have one without the other, can you? This is something we are all probably going to be seeing a lot of over the next couple of weeks so let’s celebrate it! You don’t have to stick to just food and drink items either, here are a few other suggestions: chefs, restaurants, pubs, cooking/serving implements, eating, food labels/packets, food/drink production, etc.

Good luck with it, I’m getting hungry just thinking about it!

Word of the week

Hi everyone

Even though the Leeds Art Group courses have finished for 2020 that doesn’t mean that we have to stop making art.  To help inspire you to get those paints/pencils/pens out, each Monday I’ll be posting a word on this website to act as a starting point for your own creativity.  You can use any materials and work in any style you like.  There are no wrong answers!  So wherever your creativity leads you, that is exactly the right direction.  When you’ve finished your drawing/painting etc. you are welcome to send me a photo of it for feedback/advice and there’s a good chance I’ll post it on this website or our Instagram page @leedsartgroup.  This is free for everyone (even if you’re not a member of Leeds Art Group) and you don’t need to apply or sign up for it.  Just start drawing!

Send your photos to me via email at:  leedsartgroup@yahoo.co.uk or send them via WhatsApp to this number: 07788 871286.  We also have a WhatsApp group for Leeds Art Group where you can upload your own photos.  Just let me know your mobile number if you would like me to add you to the WhatsApp group (you will need to have a WhatsApp account already in order to join the WhatsApp group).

So here we go!  The first word of the week is……..

Music

Here are a few suggestions where this might take you but you don’t have to stick to these:  musical instruments, concert halls, sheet music, song lyrics, musicians, album covers etc…

I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Take care
