Beginners Courses – Week 5

Hi folks

This week the Nature course used watercolour pencils and a layering technique to create these enlarged drawings of conkers.  The Drawing course used a series of timed drawings to help train the eye to make quick decisions about the key elements of a picture.  The Animal course produce these colourful drawings of highland cattle using oil pastels.  Fantastic work everyone and thank you to everyone who made it through the snow to get to class this week.

Don’t forget, the dates for next term (starting 16th April 2018) have now been confirmed and full course details can be viewed on the “Courses for 2018” page.  Please get in touch if you require any further information or if you would like to book a place.  Contact me on tel: 07788 871286 or email me at: leedsartgroup@yahoo.co.uk.

See you soon.

Beginners Courses – Week 4 & New Courses starting April 2018!

Hi everyone

Nice to see you all back in class after our break.  The Nature course used a stick and ink technique to create these brilliant enlarged drawings of mussel shells.  The Drawing course worked on their accuracy of line and tone by using a grid to help them create beautiful drawings of Italian statues.  The Animal course had a colourful peacock butterfly to inspire them this week and did a fantastic job using soft pastels.  Great work everyone!

Beginners Courses – Week 3

Brrr!

Thank you to everyone for braving the cold this week and making it to class despite the heating problems.  What a real bunch of troopers you are!  I hope you have all thawed out by now.  You still managed to turn out some fabulous work even at low temperatures.  The Nature Course  did some enlarged drawings of leaves using oil pastels – a medium that is often overlooked but can create some fantastic effects.  The Drawing Course also looked at scale and using a viewfinder to enlarge small objects to A3 size in charcoal and chalk.  The Animal Course used charcoal to create A3 drawings of Iguanas and tried to use a much more sketchy style than in previous lessons.  Brilliant work as always folks, hope you are enjoying the courses as much as I am.

Remember there are no lessons next week but classes will resume in the week commencing Monday 19th February 2018

Have a good break and I’ll see you all soon.
