For the final lesson in the “Inspired 8” Online Beginners Art Course we focused on the beautiful work of contemporary textile artist Josie Russell. We used watercolour pencils and collage to create our own versions of her patchwork pictures. Fantastic work everyone! Wonderful variations of colour, tone and pattern. What a great finish to the course!
I’ll be in touch as soon as possible with news of any future courses so watch this space!

This week in the “Inspired 8” Online Beginners Art Course we were inspired by a woodcut print by Japanese artist Ohara Koson called “Robin on a Maple Branch” c.1935. We used watercolour paint and a limited colour palette to explore how to create a range of different tones and effects just by varying the amount of water added to the paint wash. You all did a fantastic job. Beautiful pictures, great work everyone!

In the last lesson for these courses the “Inspired 3” Online beginners art course looked at the work of sculptor Henry Moore. This task was a real exercise in creating a 3D effect using tone. In the “Pencil & Paper 3” course we used bathroom items as our subject to practice different shapes, textures and lettering. Brilliant work everyone!

Colour and pattern have been playing a big part in the past couple of lessons. The “Inspired 3” Online beginners art course created these vibrant pictures inspired by the work of Mary Fedden. We used collage as well as paint to add an extra element of interest. We also produced some patterns in pen using Zentangle techniques. Lovely pictures everyone, well done!

In lesson 2 of the “Inspired 3” Online beginners art course we looked at the work of Wassily Kandinsky and created some spectacular paintings by experimenting with different colour combinations. The “Pencil and Paper” Online beginners drawing course were asked to draw an eye in large scale and really focus on attention to detail. Well done everyone, great pictures.
